My wife (Beth's) Vistage group decided in November of 2012 to have a retreat. As luck would have it they decided on Boca Grande the second week of June. I was tasked with getting 6 boats. I asked Capt Mike if it was possible and in no time 6 boats were set up for June 10 th. That morning everyone stumbled to the docks at 5:30 am (~20 of us). Beth, Micheal (Vistage member), his son Carter and myself set out with Capt Mike and first mate Brian Clark (no relation). At the pass early, I was the first to jump a fish and after a struggle landed the Tarpon. I jumped the second fish handed it to Micheal who got cut off by another boat. I jumped the 3rd fish and again handed it to Micheal and again got caught off. Capt Mike wasn't happy but so goes Tarpon fishing in Boca Grande pass. Micheal jump the forth only to have it spit the hook. The bite slowed so Capt Mike took us offshore a bit to throw crabs at surfacing Tarpon. Well Brian jumped a Tarpon and gave the rod to Micheal, who proceeded to boat his first Tarpon. Things slowed so we came back in. 2 - 5, not bad since a few days earlier T.S. Andrea chased the Tarpon offshore. 2 of the other boats went 1.5 - 5 (victims of sharks), so we claimed top honors. Thank you Capt. Mike and Brian for a memorial day. Will try to post pics later.
