After being pumped up at the meeting Thursday I was dying to go out Saturday morning. I went on my friends flats boat and we decided to try the Common Ground ramp in Ruskin. If you have a small boat you shouldn't have a problem but I really wouldn't classify it as a ramp, it has pot holes and is only long enough to get half a boat in without going off the concrete into the pot hole ridden bottom. We managed to put in and with GPS started navigating out. This was going to be an all artificial trip since I am determined to improve on tactics I have been picking up at meetings and videos. We stopped at a few fishy looking areas on the way out but the snook we saw spooked fairly easy or weren't interested. With the weather being cold and windy we weren't sure but continued to press on. Originally we were going to go into little cockroach to fish but the tide was fairly low for an incoming. The water was skinny for his flats boat. The kayak guys were like silly flats boat this is kayak territory so we decided to head north. We went over to fish near Apollo Beach and caught small trout and lady fish. Pressing further up toward the kitchen we landed a ton of lady fish, some trout, and flounder. One thing we encountered were two dolphin that wouldn't leave us alone. They kept following us and then would come up next to the boat  while ensuring we weren't going to catch anything else. After about 30 minutes though they left us alone and we returned to watching the airborne antics of the lady fish. Made our way back to the terrible ramp after taking one wrong turn in the river. Not a bad trip as we were able to bring home some fish.
