Went out to break in my buddy Rob's new HB 17.8 Whipray.  Great skiff!  The objective of the day was tarpon on fly.  We went off the beaches and set up around 8:00 and right away saw a pod of fish while dropping the anchor.  After that, it was time to wait.....

Needless to say we saw nothing else.  The wind and clouds had other ideas.  So we decided to go check my Location X for juvenile tarpon with 8 wt. gear.  Sure enough we saw about three fish milling about on their usual area in about 4 feet of water and a rising tide.  I got one take on an EP Everglades Special but did not get a good hook set and it spit hook after one jump.  After that, they stopped rolling. Tarpon on fly objective complete!

Then we decided to head out on the flats.  We caught a few trout and  small barracuda on Mirr-O-Lure's Mirro-Dine (17MR-50).  The wind really started to murk up the water so it was time for some scented plastics.  Tied on a Mirr-O-Lure Lil John (MRLJ-45).....then on back to back casts hooked up with slot sized fish.  All fish were released.
