I have a 2006 Mercury 15hp ML 4s, was motoring along when KABOOM! Original thought was a prop strike. No forward or reverse gear, prop and skeg looked normal. Got it home and dropped the lower unit and found the bottom of the drive shaft sheared off with a piece still in the gears. Can anyone recommend a Merc mechanic in the area or a place where I can order parts from.  Thanx

We have googled  the part, found the distributor made the call to make sure we got the right part and for some shipping had it the next day. (Did it for a starter and saved more than half). If you need a mechanic, I suggest BullFrog Marine, yellow building where Symmes Rd T's into 41 in Gibsonton (west side of 41). Mark Leslie has been there through this whole recession, doing business the right way. Easy to talk to, knowledgeable and reasonably priced. Hope this helps.

Ditto!!! It's one of those things were you are going to have to spend your money somewhere, however Mark always is beyond nice and helpful so spending it there seems to hurt a little less!!

I swung by Bull Frog today met Mark and dropped off my lower unit for repair. You guys are right, Mark is good people. We shot the sh!t for a little bit and he quoted me a good price for the parts and labor.

The lower unit is fixed and installed. At the last minute I mentioned to Mark that the motor was running a little rough and rpm's weren't where they should be. He said no problem, we'll check it out for you. Picked the motor up the following day, Mark had to rebuild the carb and gave her a tune up. The total cost of all the work that had to be done plus the tune up was still less than what I had anticpated paying. Mark is truly a great guy, very informative and runs a very professional business. I couldn't wait to take the skiff out and run it. No lie, this thing performed better than A-Rod on steroids.[thumb][thumb][thumb]

Snook Crazy,  thank you so much for referring me to Bullfrog Marine.
