I took my sons out on the Southshore for the Mackerel tournament on Saturday. We stopped in at South Shore Bait and tackle  and picked up 2 dozen shrimp and a dozen green backs. We were on the water out of CRB by 0630. We headed south looking for bait but we had forgotten the chum. We looked around the tower north of CRB but didn't see any. Since the water was rough and wind really kicking I headed into the flats north of CRB. I didn't want one of my sons going overboard. We set up in about 3-4 ft of water and put out the chum block. We began catching a variety of fish, huge Ladies, Trout, Catfish, and Jacks. My youngest son caught the only Mackerel and was really excited about getting 3rd place. He also pulled in a nice Shark. Overall we had a good day and great intro to tournament fishing for my boys. They are talking about the red fish tournament and how they are going to win it.
