Since the wife had a purse party to go to this morning we invited some friends to go out on the boat for some sheepshead fishing. Two adults 3 kids under 11, live shrimp and fiddler crabs. While the kids played with the bait we got everything set and launched out of Williams Park to very smooth water. We headed toward Davis Island to fish some structure we had previously had luck on only to find it occupied. We decided to head toward Macdill and ended up fishing some structure over on the runway side. I chummed the area and we started fishing. The kids were catching one after the next but they were all short sea bass. Between tying new line one and untangling lines I did manage to catch a nice 16" sea bass and a 25" mackerel. We also landed a few sheepshead, one being 17" and another mackerel. Overall I would say we caught 40 plus fish just not a lot of keepers. I asked the kids how they liked fishing and they said they had a great day and can't believe they caught so many fish. So with that said we made the trek back across the bay and had everything cleaned up and showered by 2 PM.

Did you use the sheepshead tips from Capt. Glen Taylor?  And a 25" mack on 2/22, now that's something to talk about! Super cool that the kids had a good time and you didn't have to check out the latest styles in purses.                   snook crazy

I used Glen's tactics for sheepheads plus the mangrove snapper tactics he shared previously. We didn't see any snapper though so either they weren't there or the kids were too noisy. Either way they had a great time so we did something right.
