After the rains stopped we headed out for Ruskin area around 2 PM. We stopped by Southshore Bait and Tackle and loaded up with a couple dozen shrimp and some snacks for the boys. We were going to have to walk far so we packed a few things into our packs and headed into the wet trails that would hopefully lead us to the fishy promise land. The trails were slick and water logged due to all the rain. We had a few issues with the wind blowing at us in the face but worked with it. After walking about 2 miles I got a tap then solid hit on the artificial I was throwing, reaction strike diet jerk. A short fight later I landed the 19" best. As the sun was getting ready to go down we made the long trek back to the car with extra cargo. I was proud to catch the fish but a lot more happy that my son made it the whole way without whining. Overall great day fishing a new area with friends.

I left the waders at home because I didn't plan on going into the water. I just went up to the bottom of my shorts so I could fish around the corner from a spot we were in. This would be a great place for you and your Kayak. Come to the meeting and I will share the details.
