South Shore Anglers is a civic organization that likes to fish.
We support our local community through tournaments, local food drives, and other means.
Receiving The 2013 EG Simmons Award is an example of what we do.
Where do we meet?
What is a typical meeting like?
The address and phone is:
611 Destiny Drive, Ruskin, FL
The meetings are very casual and an informal gathering often starts 30-45 minutes prior to the meeting at the Tiki Bar over a couple cold adult beverages. This is where all good fishing stories are exaggerated and expanded upon. The one that got away was always bigger than the one in the photo (if a photo even exists).
At 7:00pm-ish (depending on how good the stories are at the Tiki Bar) the meeting will start and a guest speaker will be introduced and typically speaks for 30-45 minutes. The presentation is typically followed by a Q&A session and depending on the speaker and topic, the meeting typically ends in 60-75 minutes.
Past sample speakers include:
- local fishing guides with the how to's
- local fishing related business owners/tackle stores discussing the latest fishing trends and technology
- State and Federal Biologists discussing hot fishing topics
- Auxiliary Coast Guard with Safety Information
