I called up a buddy and him and his wife joined me on Sunday on the South Shore. I launched at 4:45 AM and went out to a marker to load up on bait before I picked them up from the ramp. I had my light out and chummed up some bait but my 10' 3/8 mesh 1.5 lbs per ft net would not get down on them on time 6 A.M. was approaching So I headed back to the ramp with empty baitwells.

I pull up to the shoreline and they are waiting so I beach the boat they come on board. It is still dark out and Mikey must have been half asleep or just got off balanced and like it was slow motion went head first into the water. Not the way we wanted to start our day. Good thing I always keep a spare change of cloths in my truck. We get him into dry cloths and we were off.

The daylight was just starting to show as we cleared the CRB channel and turned north to my ladyfish hole. We anchored up in 5 ft of water and soon loaded the fish cooler with ladys for cutbait on gold spoons. I pulled anchor and we drifted south over the flats tossing our spoons. Just about every cast we were getting trout 14-16 inches. Mike gets a nice 17" flounder and right after the pic he flops back into the water  A few min later I went back to back on reds 17 and 19". We drift off the flat and make a long run south where I have been on a good redfish bite.

After about a 15 min ride we anchor up in 1.5 ft of water and I hack up a couple of ladys and whip em out with my chum slinger. We let the chum work while we tie on 3 ft of 20lb fluro onto our 10lb braid with a #1 circle hook. We all put on some lady steaks and our baits hit the water. Not 2 min go by and my reel is taking off. As I am fighting him Lindsey hooks up also. 2 nice reds to the boat. For the next 30 min it was non stop. The bite slowed and we move around some with a couple more reds to show for it. We got constant action all day and I got my personal best flounder at 18.5 " and Lindsey got her personal best trout. All in all a great day with some good friends and a hell of a way to break in the new boat!

Nice report and nice fish. When you use the lady fish chunks how big of a chunk are you using? Also are you freelining them or have splitshots on?

David.

I use about a 1" chunk. I either freeline or fish it under a cork. If I have enough ladys I will chunk one up and sling the pieces out to really get the scent in the water and bring the reds in. As always with cut bait you will have a few kittys and rays to deal with but the reds love it.
