Hit the water after work today for a quick trip to unwind. Launched at the Kitchen ( a good flat 10 min from the new place ) at 6:30 and went to Whiskey Stump Key.    Threw a spook for 15 min and nothing. Halfway through a retrieve I decided to pull it in and change lures. I was reeling as fast as I could and 5 feet from the yak the water exploded. Seconds later a nice Snook was airborne and it was game on. After a fun fight I landed my first fish ever in a kayak at 32". I laid her on the measuring board and was trying to get my phone and she flopped back home. Taking pics in the yak is a challenge and my GoPro  wont turn on.

I fished some more with nothing to show so I decided to tie on a Mirrodine and drift the flat to the launch. Halfway there I saw a good swirl and had on a nice Red. She cooperated with a pic and back she went.  The wind was kicking and sun going down so I headed in. Not a bad way to start my weekend.

Have heard Ca mention that it's good to rip a lure in to see if you get a hit just because it invaded the fish's space. Good job with the snook.
As for you having a kayak, you're good on the South Shore, I can't imagine how much better you'll be with that much stealth. Good luck to the rest of us with the upcoming tournaments.                   snook crazy

That's the first fish I've seen taken out of the Kitchen.  I've heard it's a lousy place to fish.  Now the bugs...they are epic.

Nice new boat...Dave H just bought a canoe.  Seems the world is going man power vs. horse power.

Me on the other hand decided it would be a good idea to put in at Williams and go to the Skyway; winds looked good.  53 miles later in my trihull and in 10-15mph winds....that was a beat down that I felt Sun and Mon.

Let me know if you want to do a "Kitchen hook up".  I've been known not to to catch anything there many times.
